National Center for Computer Science Education, Mobile CSP, Capital Community College, the Connecticut School Counselor Association, and the National Center for Women & Information Technology invite middle and high school counselors to:

Get information and resources you can use to set students on a path toward stable, rewarding and flexible computing careers that change the world!

During the program, you will:

  • Try your hand at coding so please bring your laptop or tablet!

  • Learn about career prospects in this fast-growing sector, and why employers want a large and diverse talent pool from which to draw

  • Learn about changes in computer science education, including:

- Local computer science education initiatives that lead to more course offerings
- What new courses are like, and how they count toward graduation and
preparation for postsecondary pathways
- Why computer science is a fundamental literacy, regardless of your students’ plans

  • Meet technology professionals, learn about their jobs and how they found their way into computing

  • Lunch is included! We will have vegetarian and gluten-free options. If you have specific dietary needs beyond this, you are welcome to bring your own.

  • Receive resource kits and cool swag!

Is there a snow date?

Where do I park?

Morgan Street Parking Garage located at 155 Morgan Street, directly behind the college (the building with green glass windows). Handicap-access is available. Parking validation for guests and visitors is available at the College’s main lobby desk.

We will validate parking. Please bring your ticket to the workshop.

What can I bring into the event?

BYOD: Please bring your own device (laptop or tablet)
As always, bring your Growth Mindset for a great day of learning and exploring Computer Science.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We will have your name listed for registration.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please let us know of any changes. We have a max capacity for the room.
